Everton Taffy, or Butter-Scotch

Ingredients

  • 2 cupfuls of sugar
  • 2 cupfuls of dark molasses
  • 1 cupful of cold butter
  • grated rind of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

Boil over a slow fire until it hardens when dropped in cold water. Pour thinly into tins well buttered, and mark into inch squares before it cools.
