Chess Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 cocoanut
  • 1 pound of sugar
  • 2/3 pint of water
  • 1/4 pound of butter
  • yolks of 7 eggs

Instructions

Peel and grate one cocoanut; boil sugar fifteen minutes in the water; stir in the grated cocoanut and boil fifteen minutes longer. While warm, stir in butter; add the yolks well beaten. Bake in patty-pans with rich paste. If prepared cocoanut is used, take one and a half coffeecupfuls. Fine.
