Pine Apple Julep


  • 1 very ripe pine apple
  • juice of one orange
  • juice of one lemon
  • 1 gill of any fruit syrup
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of rum
  • powdered sugar


Pare and slice the pine apple, which in season will cost about ten cents; lay it in a glass dish; pour over it the orange juice, (cost two cents,) lemon juice, (cost two cents,) fruit syrup, (cost about five cents,) and rum, (cost three cents;) sprinkle it with a little powdered sugar, cool it on the ice, and serve it cold. It will cost about twenty-five cents.
