Parker House Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon of lard
  • 1/2 teaspoon of butter
  • 2 quarts of sifted flour
  • 1 pint cold boiled milk
  • 1/2 cup yeast or one cake dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • a little salt

Instructions

Rub lard and butter into sifted flour. Into a well in the center of flour, cold boiled milk, and add yeast or dry yeast, dissolved in warm water, sugar, and a little salt. Set at one o'clock; make up at two o'clock, and put in pans at half past four for six o'clock tea. Keep in warm place.
