English Walnut Cake
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups of sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 1/2 cups of flour
- 1/2 cup of corn starch
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- whites of 6 eggs
Instructions
Flavor with lemon. Bake in layers.
Filling
- 2 cups of light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of water
- whites of 2 eggs
- 1 pound of English walnuts, chopped fine
Instructions
Boil brown sugar and water until it threads, and stir in the egg whites, beating until it creams; then stir in English walnuts.
