Black Wedding Cake

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
• 1 cup molasses
• 1 cup sweet milk
• 3 cups flour
• 2 teaspoonfuls baking powder sifted into flour
• 5 well beaten eggs
• 2 pounds raisins
• 1 pound currants
• 1/2 pound chopped citron
• 1/2 teaspoonful ground allspice
• 1/2 teaspoonful cinnamon
• 1/2 nutmeg

Instructions

Put flour in oven, and brown. Be careful not to burn. Dredge fruit, and add last.
