French Pea Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of dried peas
  • 2 large onions, grated
  • 2 tablespoons of parsley, minced fine
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1 small bay leaf
  • 1/2 cup of strained canned tomatoes

Instructions

Soak dried peas over night and then in the morning drain and place in a saucepan, adding two quarts of water. Simmer gently until tender and then pass through a sieve and add the rest of the ingredients. Simmer slowly for thirty minutes and then serve with toasted strips of bread.
