Chocolate Sauce


  • 4 ounces of chocolate
  • 1 pint of water
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 6 tablespoonfuls of cornstarch, dissolved in 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla


Place chocolate, cut into fine pieces, in a saucepan and add water and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and then bring to a boil. Cook for ten minutes.

Add cornstarch and cinnamon. Bring to a boil and stir continually and cook for five minutes. Cool and then add vanilla. Place in a fruit jar and store in a cool place.

This sauce is used for puddings, pastries, cakes, ice cream, sundaes and chocolate sodas.
