Place corn syrup, egg yolk, water, flour, baking powder, and flavoring in a mixing bowl. Beat to mix thoroughly and then add melted shortening, folding in carefully.
When thoroughly mixed, cut and fold the white of egg into the dough. Turn into well-greased and floured pan which has a tube in the centre and bake in a moderate oven for twenty-five minutes.
