Aunt Polly Rives's One-Egg Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 5 tablespoons of shortening
  • 1 3/4 cups of flour
  • 4 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of seeded raisins

Instructions

Cream egg, brown sugar, and shortening well and then add flour, baking powder, and milk. Beat to thoroughly mix. Add raisins.

Pour in a well-greased and floured loaf-shaped pan and bake forty minutes in moderate oven.
