Apple and Rice Custard

  • 6 tablespoons or two ounces of rice
  • 4 small apples
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 well-beaten egg

Wash rice in several waters and then place in a saucepan and add two cupfuls of boiling water. Cook until the water is absorbed and the rice soft.

Wash the apples and cut into small pieces. Cover the apples with cold water and cook until soft. Rub through a fine sieve and add sugar, vanilla, egg, and the rice.

Beat to mix and then pour into the custard cups and bake for fifteen minutes in a moderate oven.
