Snow Pancakes


  • 1/2 a pint of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 apple, pared, quartered, and chopped very fine
  • 1 1/2 of flour
  • 1/4 of a teaspoonful of salt
  • 1 bowl of snow


Beat the egg light, and add the milk to it.

Pour gradually on the flour, and beat until smooth and light.

Add the apple and salt, and at the last moment the snow.

Drop by spoonfuls into boiling fat, and cook until a rich brown.
