Queen's Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cupful of butter
  • 1 pint of sugar
  • 1 quart of flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 a gill of wine
  • 1/2 a gill of brandy
  • 1/2 a gill of thin cream
  • 1 pound of fruit
  • spice to taste

Instructions

Warm the liquids together, and stir quickly into the beaten sugar, butter and egg; add the flour; finally add the fruit.

Bake in deep pans in a moderate oven.
