Flannel Cakes
Ingredients
- 1 cupful of Indian meal
- 2 cupfuls of flour
- 3 cupfuls of boiling milk
- 1/4 of a yeast cake, or 1/4 of a cupful of liquid yeast
- 1 teaspoonful of salt
- 1 tablespoonful of sugar
- 2 tablespoonfuls of butter
Instructions
Have the milk boiling, and pour it on the meal and butter.
When cool, add the flour, salt, sugar and the yeast, which has been dissolved in four tablespoonfuls of cold water. Let the mixture rise over night.
Fry like griddle-cakes.
