Gold Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 or 5 yolks of eggs
  • 1/2 cupful of butter
  • 1 cupful of sugar
  • 1 cupful of water
  • 2 1/2 cupfuls of flour
  • 3 level teaspoonfuls of baking powder

Instructions

One frequently has four or five yolks left after having used the whites for some light dish, as mock charlotte. Beat butter to a cream, add gradually sugar. When very, very light, add the yolks of the eggs and beat for ten or fifteen minutes; then add water, and flour, sifted with baking powder. Beat thoroughly, and bake in a small round or square pan.
