Plain Buns

  • 3 pounds of flour
  • 6 ounces of butter
  • 6 ounces of sugar sifted fine
  • 6 eggs, both yolks and whites
  • 1 pint of new milk
  • 1/2 pint of good yest
  • 1/2 ounce of caraway seeds

Take the flour, butter, sugar, eggs. Beat your eggs till they will not slip off the spoon; melt the butter in the milk, with which mix the yest; strain it into the flour, and throw in the caraway seeds. Work the whole up very light; set it before the fire to rise; then make it up into buns of the size of a penny roll, handling them as little as possible. Twenty minutes will bake them sufficiently.
