Gloucester Jelly

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce of rice
  • 1 ounce of sago
  • 1 ounce of pearl barley
  • 1 ounce of candied eringo root
  • 2 quarts of water

Instructions

Simmer it over the fire till it is reduced to one quart; strain it. This will produce a strong jelly; a little to be dissolved in white wine or warm milk, and to be taken three or four times a day.
