Another Hessian Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of beef
  • 1 pint of split peas
  • 3 turnips
  • 4 ounces ground rice
  • 3 potatoes
  • 3 onions
  • 1 head of celery
  • 7 pints of water

Instructions

Boil till reduced to six pints; then strain it through a hair sieve, with a little whole pepper.
