Yom-Tov Soup


  • 2 pounds of ribs of beef
  • 1 chicken
  • 1 split carrot
  • 1 split onion
  • 1 head of celery
  • a little parsley root
  • pepper and salt to taste
  • pinch of saffron


Place meat in a large cooking-vessel with plenty of water and add carrot and onion, celery, parsley root, pepper and salt to taste, and saffron. Let the whole simmer for two hours. The meat is then removed and can be used as a separate dish.
