Chocolate Sauce, No. 2


  • 2 1/2 cups of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 3 squares of chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of hot water
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • vanilla


Scald two cups of milk, add cornstarch diluted with one-half cup of cold milk, and cook ten minutes over boiling water. Melt chocolate over hot water, add sugar and hot water; stir until smooth, then add to cooked mixture. Beat the whites of the eggs until stiff, add powdered sugar; add the yolks and stir into cooked mixture; cool and add vanilla.
