Chocolate Brod Torte
Ingredients
- 10 eggs
- 2 cups of pulverized sugar
- 1 3/4 cups of sifted dry rye bread crumbs
- 1/2 pound of sweet almonds
- bitter almonds
- 1/4 pound of citron shredded fine
- 1 cake of chocolate grated
- 1 orange
- 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon of cloves
- 1 wine glass of brandy
- chocolate icing
Instructions
Separate the yolks and whites of the eggs. Beat the yolks with pulverized sugar. When thick add bread crumbs, sweet almonds, also some bitter ones, grated or powdered as fine as possible, citron, chocolate, the grated peel of one lemon, the juice of one orange and one lemon, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and brandy. Bake very slowly in ungreased form. Frost with a chocolate icing, made as follows:
Chocolate Icing
- small piece of chocolate
- white of an egg
- scant cup of sugar
Instructions
Melt chocolate. Beat the white stiff with sugar, and stir into the melted chocolate and spread with a knife.
