Cabbages With Bacon


  • cabbage
  • bacon
  • sausage
  • a piece of breast of mutton
  • 3 or 4 sprigs of parsley
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 clove
  • a little nutmeg
  • salt
  • pepper


When boiled and drained, put the cabbage in a stewpan with bacon, sausage, and the mutton; cover with cold water, season with the parsley, carrot, clove, nutmeg, salt and pepper; boil till the whole is well cooked, remove the seasonings and drain; dish the cabbage, put the meat on it, and serve warm.
