- 10 pounds of large English gooseberries
- 7 pounds of coffee sugar
- 3 pints of vinegar
- 2 tablespoonfuls of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoonful of allspice
- 1 tablespoonful of cloves
Boil the gooseberries, coffee sugar, and vinegar together for an hour and a half. Then add the cinnamon, allspice and cloves and boil half an hour longer. Put in jars and seal.
