To preserve red or white Currans whole

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of currans
  • 1 1/2 pounds of loaf sugar
  • 1/2 pint of curran juice

Instructions

Pick the currans from the stalks, then take the loaf sugar, and wet it in the curran juice, put in the berries, and boil them over a slow fire till they are clear; when cold put them in small berry bottles, with a little mutton suet over them.
