To make a Seed Cake


  • 1 quartern of fine flour
  • 1 pound of butter
  • 3/4 pound of carraway comfits
  • 6 spoonfuls of new yeast
  • 6 spoonfuls of cream
  • yolks of 6 eggs and 2 whites
  • sack


Take the flour well dried before the fire, when it is cold rub in the butter; take the carraway comfits, yeast, cream, yolks and whites, and a little sack; mix all of these together in a very light paste, set it before the fire till it rise, and so bake it in a tin.
