Savoury Custard

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 gills of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ounce of grated cheese
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • pepper and salt to taste

Instructions

Heat the milk; meanwhile whip the egg well, and mix the cheese and seasoning with it. Mix well with the hot milk, pour the mixture into a buttered dish, and bake in a moderately hot oven until set. Serve with potatoes and greens.
