Molasses Jumbles

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound of sugar
  • 3/4 pound of butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 pint of molasses
  • rose brandy
  • nutmeg
  • flour

Instructions

Beat the sugar, butter, and eggs together; stir in the molasses; add rose brandy and nutmeg, and enough flour to make a soft dough; roll it in rings, and bake as other jumbles. By the addition of half a pint of molasses and a tea-spoonful of salaeratus, you will have a common black cake, which may be baked in one large pan.
