Jumbles for Delicate Persons

Ingredients

  • 1 heaped pint of light-brown sugar
  • 2 pints of flour
  • 1/2 pound of butter
  • 1 dessert spoonful of cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tea-cup of rich milk
  • 1 very small lump of salaeratus
  • 1 wine glass of rose brandy

Instructions

Roll the sugar, and rub it in the flour, butter, and cinnamon; beat the egg, and mix it with the milk (in which the salaeratus has been dissolved;) stir all together with the rose brandy; work it well, roll thin and cut them out; bake with moderate heat.
