Bishop Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of sago
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoonful fine minced or ground bitter almonds
  • piece of cinnamon
  • peel of 1 lemon
  • 1 1/2 cups claret
  • 1/4 pound sugar
  • 1 teaspoonful of bishop essence

Instructions

Boil the sago in the water, with the almonds, cinnamon and lemon peel; when sago is done strain it through a sieve, add the claret, sugar and bishop essence.
