Shad-roe Salad

Ingredients

  • 2 roes
  • vinegar
  • 1 head of tender lettuce
  • 1 pint of ripe tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of oil
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of strained tomato pulp
  • cayenne pepper

Instructions

Boil the roes, separate the grains by washing them in vinegar, place them in a salad bowl, with the lettuce and tomatoes cut thin; dress them with the oil, lemon juice, and strained tomato pulp, seasoned with cayenne pepper.
