Mrs. Alleman's Waldorf Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of chopped apples
  • 1 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup of chopped celery

Mayonnaise Dressing

  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon mustard
  • 3/4 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 3/4 cup of thin cream
  • 1/4 cup of vinegar

Instructions

Take the chopped apples, walnuts and celery. Dress with following mayonnaise dressing: Mix the salt, mustard and sugar, add the egg, melted butter, thin cream and very slowly the vinegar. Cook in double boiler until thick, then strain and cool.
