Scalloped Tomatoes


  • 1 can of tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoonful of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoonful of pepper
  • bread-crumbs
  • 1 tablespoonful of sugar
  • onion juice
  • 1 tablespoonful of melted butter


Season the tomatoes with the salt and pepper. Spread a shallow baking dish with a thin layer of bread-crumbs; pour in the tomatoes, sprinkle over them the sugar, and a few drops of onion juice. Cover the top with a cupful of bread-crumbs which have been moistened with the melted butter. Bake in a hot oven for fifteen minutes. Serve in the same dish.
