Sauterne Cup

Use brand "Graves."

  • 1 quart of Sauterne
  • 4 large lemons
  • powdered sugar
  • 1 cocktail glassful of brandy
  • 2/3 glassful of maraschino
  • 1 teaspoonful of Angostura bitters
  • 1 bottle of Delatour soda
  • 6 thin slices of cucumber
  • fruit

To the Sauterne add the strained juice of the lemons. Sweeten with powdered sugar to taste, add the brandy, maraschino (noyau can be used, but it is not so good), and Angostura bitters. Put it on ice until ready to use, and then, not before, add the Delatour soda, also chilled, or the same amount of soda from syphon. Lastly, add the cucumber and a few pieces of any fruit convenient, such as pineapple, raspberries, strawberries, etc., and a piece of ice. Borage is better than cucumber for cups if it can be had.
