Horseradish Sauce

(Roast or boiled beef)

  • 2 tablespoonfuls of soft white crumbs of bread
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of grated horseradish
  • cream or milk
  • 1/4 teaspoonful of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoonful of sugar
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of vinegar

Mix together the crumbs of bread and grated horseradish. Cover them with cream or milk, and let soak for two hours. Then rub them through a sieve, and add the salt, sugar, and vinegar. Enough milk should be used to give it the consistency of cream. This sauce will keep in a cool place for several days.
