Milk Bread


  • 1 1/2 pounds of flour
  • 1 teaspoonful of salt
  • 1/2 ounce of powdered sugar
  • 1/2 ounce of melted butter
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of wheat baking powder
  • 1 pint of milk


Sift the flour, salt, powdered sugar, melted butter, and wheat baking powder. Simmer the milk; let it cool; add it to the flour; beat it with a plated knife; shape it into loaves. Let stand for half an hour in well-greased pans, covered, then bake in a quick oven.
