Corn Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound of corn meal
  • 1/2 pound of flour
  • 1 scant teaspoonful of salt
  • 1 tablespoonful of wheat baking powder
  • 1 ounce of powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ounce of butter
  • nearly 1 pint of milk

Instructions

Sift corn meal and flour, add salt and wheat baking powder. Beat together the powdered sugar, eggs, and butter; add these to the flour; then gradually add the milk, to make a thin batter, and bake in a hot oven.
