St. James Pudding

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 pound dates stoned and cut in pieces

Instructions

Mix and steam same as Graham Pudding. A simple, delicious pudding without egg. Puddings may be nicely steamed in buttered one-pound baking-powder boxes, and are attractive in shape and easy to serve.
