Oatmeal Gruel I

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup coarse oatmeal
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • milk

Instructions

Add oatmeal and salt to boiling water and cook three hours in double boiler. Force through a strainer, dilute with milk or cream, reheat, and strain a second time.
