Gingerbread Cakes, or Butter and Sugar Gingerbread

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds of flour
  • 1 grated nutmeg
  • 2 ounces ginger
  • 1 pound sugar
  • 3 small spoons pearl ash dissolved in cream
  • 1 pound butter
  • 4 eggs

Instructions

Knead it stiff, shape it to your fancy, bake 15 minutes.
