Belgian Rice Dessert


  • 1 pint of milk
  • 1/2 cup of boiled rice
  • currants
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of sugar
  • 1 teaspoonful of vanilla
  • beaten egg
  • fine bread-crumbs
  • pulverized sugar
  • red currant jelly


Cook milk; add boiled rice and some currants; stir in the egg yolks well beaten with sugar.

Remove from the fire.

Add vanilla; then form into cylinders.

Dip in beaten egg and fine bread-crumbs and fry a golden brown.

Sprinkle with pulverized sugar and put some red currant jelly on top and serve.
